Today the Plainville United Methodist Church is happy to present to Braedon Bear with his Bible. This represents the promises we made at baptism to help bring up children in the faith. We are now placing the Word of God in his hands a child of God. We hope you will take time each day to read and explore God’s word to us which we find in the bible. This is another milestone in your journey of faith. The B-I-B-L-E that’s the book for me!
We engaged in a ceremony to unwrap unwrap the wonders of the Bible together!
We rejoice in this step in your journey with God. We pray God will guide you, your family, and us as you use this Holy Bible in your home, in your church and in our worship. We will learn together and grow in our love for God’s Word.

We are reminded of Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know that plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Let this serve as a reminder that God has a promising and hopeful plan for your lives. We look forward to watching your future unfold.
Presentation of our College Graduate:
Please welcome Natalie, Central Connecticut State University
As stated in Colossians 3:23 — New Century Version (NCV)
23 In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work as if you were doing it for the Lord, not for people.
This seems fitting as you have studied and are continuing to study your degree in Social Work.
Congratulations on your Bachelor Degree and we look forward to seeing what your future holds!
Scholarship Recognition:
In keeping with tradition of our former Tuesday Ladies, today we will be awarding 4 Scholarships. This Scholarship fund is based on the endowment that has been bestowed upon us by the gifts given to us and we give God the glory for the vision of these individuals: Everett Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson, Maydelle McDonald and Janice & Gil Demerest, who donated in memory of Grace Parmalee that enabled the establishment of this scholarship fund. Everett, Jeffrey, Maydelle, Janice & Gil all had the future of our youth in mind and we are eternally grateful for their gifts.
Today we have 4 recipients we would like to honor.
Charlotte, she is a Southington High Graduate 2023 and is currently attending Tunxis Community College. Her educational goals are to get a degree in Chemistry in the Forensic Science Field. Pursing a degree is important to her because she wants to build a career off of something she has an interest in and give her the tools to help others. She selected an essay to tell us 3 things that were important to her and she listed her mom, her music and her creativity. Her mother, music and creativity have all helped shaped her into the person she is today, and without that, she doesn’t know what she would be doing right now. Charlotte we cannot wait to see where your college career takes you in the future and are please to present you with this scholarship.
Aimee, is a Plainville High School Graduate 2021 and is also a student of Tunxis Community College. Her educational goals are to become a Dental Assistant. Pursuing a degree is important to her as it will provide experience, knowledge and more career opportunities. She selected an essay that asked to describe a change she would like to make in the world and how she plans to make that change. She indicated that she wants to share the Gospel and bring others closer to God through prayer and encouragement. We cannot force others to come closer to Christ, but we can tell them who Jesus is, tell them we love them and pray with them.
Paige, is also a Plainville High School Graduate 2021 and is a student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Her Educational goals are to become an Aerospace Engineer. In addition to becoming an engineer that specializes in structures, materials and elasticity, she is pursing becoming a licensed professional engineer and is currently registered with the National Council of Engineering. Paige selected an essay that asked to describe a change she would make in the world and how she plans to make that change. She is hoping that the beginning of her career would be to take part in the revolution of urban transportation through the development of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. This innovation promises to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce carbon emissions and create more efficient urban mobility. There is a world of possibilities with this revolution and I would like to be part of this.
Natalie, Plainville High School Graduate, CCSU Graduate 2024 and Masters in Social Work Student. This is an accelerated program. Education is important as it will open doors to more opportunities in life and provides her with the skills she will need to grow as a Social Worker. Nathalie picked the essay that asked her to tell us of a time when she failed something and how did she respond. She quotes s “The secret of our success is that we never, never give up” Wilma Mankiller. Natalie stated there will be time where we will get frustrated and ask why certain things are happening. She believes it’s because God has closed one door and opened another. We must take the bumps in the road as learning experiences and not roadblocks. She did switch her major along the way in her college career but feels those were lessons to learn and not failures.
Father, provide these students with wisdom and guidance as they seek to discover Your purposes for them and the unique ways You created them. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you” Psalm 32:8 (NIV).
