In June of 1960, a little more than 5 acres on Red Stone HIll were purchased from George Jester. On January 17, 1961, a Building committe was formed. On March 22, 1964 the groundbreaking for the new educational unit marked another step in our journey. the building that we now worship in was the educational building. Somewhat later the congregation considered the next phase in the building project ... "should we build a sanctuary?" A committee was formed, architects were interviewed, andone was chosen to draw plans for a sanctuary. The plans were presented to the church, but they were not approved. It was decided to continue to use the new structure for worship and fellowship.
Soon after, ground was broken for the new parsonage, and on November 1, 1964, the final regular moring worship service in the old church concluded anera that had been close to the hearts of many worshippers. We had work to do, and we could notlinger over memories past. The following week was busy and lasted until a few hours before the great day. On Sunday, November 8, 1964, we gathered for our first worship service and first sunday school classes in the new church. The church is the people, and we can worship God in all places. The Davis familyed moved into their new home on November 28, 1965.
The Service of Consecration for the church building and parsonagae was held on January 10, 1965 at 3:00 pm. The opening hymn, "The Church's One Foundation", is one to remember as we meet new challenges. Bishop LLoyd C. Wicke led the congregatoin in this Service of Consecration and preached the sermon. On June 7, 1970, Bishop Wicke officiated at "A Service of Dedication, A Day of Rejoiching." The closing hymn was "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing." We had achieved one of our goals.
